Devs Reportedly Question the Rumoured Launch of the PS5 Pro

The PS5 Pro has been the talk of the town at the moment with new specifications for the upcoming console surfacing online by the day. We already know that Sony is focusing towards a higher frame rate while providing better resolution with this console along with other details about its upscaling tech and more. However, we are yet to hear about what developers feel about this mid-get refresh and a recent report gives us some idea.

Devs are wondering why Sony is coming up with PS5 Pro

According to details provided by GameIndustry.Biz’s Christopher Dring (via PSU), it seems that developers at GDC are questioning the reasoning behind releasing this new console. During Dring’s time at GDC, they spoke to several developers and he realised that they “don’t really seem to feel they need it” and many also spoke about how they aren’t “making the most out of the PS5 in the first place”. Dring also spoke about how the “generation doesn’t even seem to have got started really”, and we are already looking towards a mid-gen refresh.

PlayStation Wins $500 Million Controller Case

In other news, the case between Sony and Genuine Enabling Technology or GET has now come to a close, with the judge ruling in Sony’s favour. According to a report by GameIndustry.biz, the case was about GET claiming that no controller was able to receive frequency signals for button inputs and motion controls at the same time before their patent, however, Sony argued that GET’s patent didn’t include any diagrams that were “structurally equivalent” to any specific component in their controllers. The judge found Sony’s argument substantial and ruled in their favour, stating that GET “failed to raise a dispute of fact”.
