The upcoming Ghost of Tsushima PC port will also require players to link their PSN accounts before playing. This is also not going to sit well with PC players after the major Helldivers 2 fan backlash that took place over the past few days. However, the situation with Ghost of Tsushima is slightly different from Helldivers 2.
For starters, developers at Sucker Punch Productions have clarified that the PSN account linking is only required if players opt to play the “Legends” multiplayer mode within Ghost of Tsushima. Players can still choose not to link their PSN accounts if they want to only enjoy the single-player story of Ghost of Tsushima.
Thank you for your feedback.
Just so you are aware, A PSN account is required for Legends online multiplayer mode and to use PlayStation overlay. It is not required to play the singleplayer game.

While that does sound slightly better as there is a choice here rather than a mandatory requirement to play the entire game, as was the case with Helldivers 2 since it is an online title, it is still going to be an issue. PSN accounts are simply not available in around 170 countries, and the forceful decision of a mandatory sign-up led to Helldivers 2 being pulled from 177 countries.
Now that Sony has announced their decision to roll back on the mandatory requirement, the game is expected to be available again in these regions. However, the issue of PSN’s unavailability will persist and anyone interested in playing the Legends multiplayer title would once again face this problem.
Helldivers fans — we’ve heard your feedback on the Helldivers 2 account linking update. The May 6 update, which would have required Steam and PlayStation Network account linking for new players and for current players beginning May 30, will not be moving forward.
We’re still…

While Sucker Punch Productions, who have ported the game for PC, stated that the single-player title would otherwise work, any gamer paying the full price of the game when it launches on PC would expect that no aspect of the game, especially the game’s only multiplayer mode, to be locked behind a login requirement for PSN, especially if it is not available in their region.
It remains to be seen if Sony would roll back on Ghost of Tsushima’s PSN account linking requirement or not for PC.
