Xbox Announces Gaming for Inclusion Esports Tournament in Partnership With Special Olympics for the Gaming & Disability Community

Xbox is currently celebrating the gaming and disability community with their partnership with the Special Olympics. On the occasion, Xbox and the Special Olympics have announced a Gaming for Inclusion tournament, kickstarting a new phase in their ongoing partnership. The details for the same have been shared via a blog post on Xbox Wire on October 2, along with information on their other initiatives.

Gaming for Inclusion tournament

The Gaming for Inclusion event will take place in November this year. It is scheduled to begin on November 11, 2023, where the athletes will compete virtually in Rocket League. The tournament will culminate into an in-person event in Los Angeles, California on November 18. Participants will get a chance to compete with NFL athletes and WWE Superstars, as the event will also be livestreamed online on the Xbox Twitch channel.

Additionally, it was announced that three of the Special Olympics athletes were hosted by Xbox at the Microsoft Experience Center earlier in September for a shoutcaster training.

Games curated by gaming and disability communities at Microsoft

Xbox is also promoting games curated by people with disabilities and created by them. This includes titles like Halo Infinite, Hi-Fi Rush and Sea of Solitude that will be available as a part of a dedicated collection on Xbox Game Pass titled Xbox Game Pass Gaming & Disability community collection.

Xbox Ambassador’s Program

The gaming and disability community is being celebrated by the Xbox Ambassadors Program as well. Xbox is sharing stories from the community about how gaming impacted the lives of these people with disabilities. You can check out these stories on the Xbox Ambassadors Blog. Additionally, new gamerpic, profile themes, avatar items and wallpapers have been introduced, along with the new Champions Rise gear in partnership with Special Olympics. Furthermore, three organisations have been featured for Microsoft Rewards members in the United States and the United Kingdom: Special Effect, Warfighter Engaged, and AbleGamers.
