Assassin’s Creed Mirage director has ideas for extending Basim’s story, but not with DLC

Assassin’s Creed Mirage’s creative director has ideas for further developing the story of the game’s protagonist Basim.

During a Reddit AMA, Stéphane Boudon left the door open for revisiting the character in the future, although he reiterated that there are no plans for Mirage DLC.

“We’re thrill[ed] by the reception of Mirage,” he wrote. “Mirage [h]as been design[ed] as a standalone experience without any DLC plan.

“However, we have ideas on how we could extend the story of Basim, surely. But as of today, no post launch content is planned for Mirage.”

Boudon also said Ubisoft isn’t planning to release any more significant updates for the game, which received additional features like New Game Plus and permadeath post-launch.

“We have no plans for a new major update but we’ll keep monitoring the game and listening to player feedback,” he said.

Boudon was also asked if he’d like to work on another game starting Basim should the opportunity arise.

“Telling the coming-of-age story of Basim was a blast for us so clearly yes, we still have a lot to say about Basim,” he said. “On the other hand, creating a game with that much constrains is a difficult exercise and as the team we would also love to explore new horizons and having more creative freedom.”

Ubisoft recently released a free trial for Assassin’s Creed Mirage. Available until April 30, it lets players sample the first two hours of the game and carry over their progress to the full title should they choose to buy it.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage was released last October for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC, and an iPhone 15 Pro version is scheduled to arrive in “early 2024”.
